Our Story

We are Pieter and Axel, two friends who met in high school in Beveren, East Flanders. We studied electricity together and then continued our studies in Antwerp.

During our daily jobs, we are constantly working with technology, but in our spare time we are gin-lovers. That's why in the summer of 2021, during the corona period, we came up with the idea of making our own gin together.

After a start-up period of about 1 year, we launched our gin on August 28, 2021 at the "Gin and Rum Fest" in Melsele.

As a product name we originally thought of "MATES" which would refer to our friendship. Unfortunately, this name was already in use by an Australian gin producer.
After this we started looking for a fresh young name that sounds good. In the end, we called it MÆVE.
